Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region Igor Orlov signed a decree according to which only local residents can enter the Solovetsky Archipelago.

According to information published on the official website of the Transfiguration of the Solovetsky Stauropegial Monastery, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill turned to the governor of the Arkhangelsk region to close Solovki for visiting. "The situation is calm on the island, the operations headquarters are working. The employees of the Solovetsky Museum-Reserve switched to a remote mode of operation. The abbot of the Solovetsky Monastery limited the movement of monks around the island, but the services in the monastery’s temples continue as before," the report said.

In addition to local residents, two hundred people live and work in Solovki - they are engaged in restoration, construction work, including the construction of an airstrip.

Airplanes deliver food and essential goods to the island. Since March 30, the regime of self-isolation has been operating in the Arkhangelsk region.
