The Moscow Tourism Committee has compiled a portrait of a typical tourist visiting the capital. The analysis has been carried out on the basis of sample sociological surveys in the first half of 2019. A total of 17 thousand respondents took part in the all-Russian survey; besides, 2.4 thousand foreign citizens also participated.

      Moscow is the most attractive for Russian and foreign young people under the age of 34 years. More than half of them are men. The capital is popular among young people, because the city hosts different festivals. According to the web portal, 77.5% of tourists from other regions of Russia were born after 1981. 33.3% of these are young people aged 18 to 24 years. At the same time, 53% of travelers visiting Moscow are men.

      The majority of foreign tourists (63.6%) are also people under 34 years old, 28% of which are the travelers aged 18 to 24 years; another 20% are aged from 35 to 44. Besides, men make up 57.2% of visitors coming from abroad. In 2018, Moscow was visited by 23.5 million tourists; 5.5 million of them were foreigners.
