Taiwan Foreign Ministry extended visa-free regime for Russians for a year.   Russians will be able to visit Taiwan without a visa until July 31, 2020, the Taiwan Foreign Ministry says in a statement.

"The visa-free regime for citizens of Thailand, Philippines, Brunei and Russia has been extended for a year, until July 31, 2020. During this period, the program will be evaluated to determine whether the visa-free regime will continue to be extended," the agency said.

The ministry noted that they are waiting for the growth of tourist traffic from Russia, thanks to the resumption of direct flights between the Russian Federation and Taiwan since May 24.

According to local media, 1.5 million Russians visited Taiwan last year. More guests came only from China, Malaysia and India. “This indicates a huge potential for attracting tourists from the Russian Federation,” the Taiwan News portal comments.
