Foreign tourists in Russia made the most expensive purchases in jewelry boutiques, according to a study conducted by Russian Standard Bank.
Russian Standard used impersonal data on the dynamics of operations with foreign cards and in the AliPay system in its acquiring network in the past year and compared it with 2017 data. The bank is among the leaders in the largest acquiring network in the country.
In 2018, hotels became the most popular segment of foreigners' spending in Russia, as in 2017, where the average check was 22 288 rubles.
The second place is occupied by spending on cards of foreign banks in clothing and accessories stores, both in 2018 and in 2017. Here, on average, one purchase of a foreigner amounted to 20 428 rubles.

Third place is taken by fast food restaurants, where the average bill was 1 140 rubles in 2018, and 1 040 rubles in 2017.
Jewelry stores took the fourth place, showing a record average bill of one purchase on foreign cards - 50 060 rubles in 2018 and 48 593 rubles in 2017.
The restaurant segment closes the top five (the place in the ranking does not change for the second year in a row) with an average check of 6 248 rubles against 6 657 rubles a year earlier.
