One of the birchbark manuscripts is well-preserved, whereas the other two are fragments only.

      An archaeological expedition has found three birchbark manuscripts in the course of excavations in Veliky Novgorod. This is the first find of the kind in this season.

      Researchers have managed to read one of them, which is a note on a judicial case, the press service of the Novgorod United Museum-Reserve informs.

      "During the very first days of work at the Troitsk Excavation, archaeologists made a number of important discoveries, including three birch bark manuscripts. The digging is conducted in the cultural layer of the last quarter of the 12^th century,” - the report reads.

      Presently experts are deciphering the texts of the found birch-bark letters.
