Underwater Robot for Military and Environmentalists Engineered in St. Petersburg

An autonomous micro underwater vehicle created by the students of the St. Petersburg State Maritime Technical University is intended for inspecting the seabed.

It is among the winners of the All-Russian Young Scientists’ Competition at the U-NOVUS forum in Tomsk.

Presently the team is negotiating with the Rubin and Malachite design bureaus, which are engaged in submarine design.

Environmentalists are also interested in the robot. The vehicle is designed for underwater works, such as examining the seabed, searching for objects, detecting damages, and testing water characteristics. Moreover, it can detect suspicious objects and record their location.
