The Russian scientist will tell about his research at the largest conference on cellular biology in San Francisco.
The American Society of Cellular Biologists have announced winners of the annual international Kaluza Award for achievements in the field of cellular biology. For the first time a Russian scientist, the biochemist Anatoly Zaytsev from the Theory Center of the Physical and Chemical Pharmacology of RAS, has become one of finalists.
The Russian studies cell division process and separation of chromosomes between its halves. He has managed to establish the way proteinaceous complexes on chromosomes assist in correct cell division, reducing the risk of mistakes.
According to Mr. Zaytsev, his research will help to figure out the origins of oncological diseases, which develop in case of wrong cell division.
