There have been only two reasons for a trip to Saransk, the capital of Mordovia, until recently: the sculptor Erzya and race walking. As well as Mordovian prison camps. In general, voluntary tourists were in no hurry to visit either Saransk or Mordovia. But everything is changing rapidly, and even local residents who had moved to big cities, discover something new during every visit to their native place. The secret of transformation is football.

Sochi is unique for its astonishing nature and spa facilities few places on our planet can boast to have both the seaside and the mountains.

Any walk through Samara sooner or later leads to the embankment of the Volga River. The streets next to the embankment descend right to the river, repeating the coastal relief, so you will eventually go out to the embankment.

There is a metro in Samara: one branch, nine stations, eleven and a half kilometers. The decorations of the stations are made in late Soviet style.

A walk along the central streets of Frunze and Kuibysheva, Chapaevskaya and Lva Tolsogo is like going through the pages of a textbook on the history of architecture from the 19th century to the present day: Art Noveau, eclectic, Neo-Russian and Neo-Mauritanian styles, wooden houses and pompous Stalinist Empire style, a bit of pure constructivism.

The exact date of foundation of Samara is unknown.

Sochi Arboretum is simply perfect for you to retreat from the city hustle and bustle, have a good rest and relax. A huge collection of rare subtropical plants from around the world is gathered on the vast area of the Arboretum.

The Skypark in the picturesque Akhshtyrskoe Gorge on the territory of the Sochi National Park has become the largest project in the history of commercial bungee jumping.

The authorities of Ingushetia launched new helicopter routes to the mountainous sights.

Matsesta is known as a separate area between Khosta and Sochi, but it is an administrative part of Khosta district. It has unusually beautiful views that mostly relate to the Sochi National Park and a very modest infrastructure.

The Friedland Gate is the only one of the seven surviving city gates of Koenigsberg and the youngest of all these gates.

Nowadays the Royal Gate not only tells us about the emergence of Koenigsberg-Kaliningrad and its development at the crossroads, it is a museum with open exhibitions; solemn book presentations and wedding ceremonies are held there, and the Kaliningrad Consular Corps has chosen the Royal Gate as a venue for the annual celebration of the Diplomats Day.

The Fort titled King Friedrich Wilhelm III was built in late XIX century as part of the Koenigsberg defensive ring.

Modern Saransk is a rare type of Russian city: it has become comfortable and charming, thanks to the efforts of its residents.

Saransk responsibly prepares for the influx of domestic and foreign guests: creates infrastructure virtually from scratch, builds monumental stadiums, renovates historical buildings, breaks down old ugly buildings and constructs something modern in their place.

Saransk is the centre of Finno-Ugric culture of Russia. Since 2007 a large festival titled Shumbrat, Finno-Ugria! has been held there.

Tynda, the northernmost and youngest town of the Amur Region, is even called the capital of BAM.

Vladivostok Fortress is a complex of defensive structures built in the city and its surroundings in late XIX-early XX centuries. Today the complex of fortification constructions of the Vladivostok fortress is a monument of federal significance.

Dalnerechensk is the oldest and northernmost town of Primorye, the administrative centre of Dalnerechensky district, located near the border with China.

Zov Tigra (Call of the Tiger) National Park started to work in 2008. However, even 20 years before that, Far Eastern scientists had stressed the need for creation of a protected area there.
