Lake Zaozerye is located in the Novgorod region, 7 km to the west of Okulovka along the Borovichi - Kresttsy highway. This is a relatively small, but in its own way beautiful and rich in fish resources reservoir. Several villages are located near the shores of the reservoir: Berezovik, Dorishchi, Zabrodie, Zaozerye, Korytnitsa and Snarevo. In the immediate vicinity there is a picturesque regional natural monument - "Zaozerskaya accumulative water-glacial ridge".

Natural features of Lake Zaozerye

Zaozerye is a flowing lake. The reservoir is glacial in origin. The mostly sloping shores are interspersed with low hills. Transparent water (up to 1.5 m) with a wavy sandy bottom of a light green color is enriched with organic substances and minerals. In the summer-autumn period, plankton develops rapidly, which reduces the transparency of Zaozerye. Mini-islands overgrown with bushes and trees give a special charm to the reservoir.

Recreation and entertainment

Several recreational areas are well located in the Zaozerye area. The most famous of them are the SOVA Camping Park and the Alyonushka hunting and fishing base. In a dense forest, on the bank of a channel between lakes Mosno and Zaozerye, the spacious territory of the Alyonushka tourist center is at guests' service. Here you can not only grill barbecue, fish and dream alone with nature in silence, but also actively relax by taking a boat trip on the lake in summer, and enjoy the delights of a ski slope or an ice skating rink in winter.  In total there are 5 wooden houses for rent with equipped kitchen areas for 6 and 10 people. There is also a banquet hall. A play area is provided for children. Sports equipment can be rented during winter. Organization of hunting and fishing involves the services of an experienced huntsman. They did not forget about travelers who cannot imagine their holiday without a car or motorcycle. 17 km from the M11 highway, on the shores of Lake Zaozerye, there is a small, but   already   popular among autotourists round-the-clock camping "SOVA". There is a small but cozy sandy beach nearby. Rest here can be attributed to the budget category, there are many discounts. Sights

A unique landscape of a specially protected natural area - "Zaozerskaya accumulative water-glacial ridge" runs along the western coast of Zaozerye to the village of Zabrodie. On December 11, 1987, the area received the status of a natural monument of regional significance. The area of the ridge is more than 2.6 hectares, the height is up to 20 m. The length is slightly more than 10 km and 500 m wide.

A picturesque natural complex with a predominance of southern taiga and small-leaved forests formed in the area of a tectonic lake, in the zone of remnants of glaciers that stopped moving (the so-called "dead ice"). The Zaozerskaya ridge is mainly composed of fine-grained sands. It includes areas of hilly relief, including a glacier deposited by melt water, as well as a lacustrine-glacial plain. Of course, scientific data on the relief of this place  will not convey its beauty. Zaozerskaya ridge is really worth seeing  with your own eyes.
