Ten kilometers from the city of Tuapse, the ancient megalithic complex “Psinako” is located. As usual, such structures are a complete mystery to researchers. The mound has a very interesting shape: chains lined with boulders of various shapes run down from the center. This attraction was discovered in 1972: a complex structure consists of a dolmen, a layer of clay, and a river cobblestone.

The main studies of the barrow complex "Psynako" were conducted in 1985. Interestingly, there is nothing like it in the Caucasus. The dating of the complex is the third century BC. The excavation area in this mound is 2 hectares. Despite the fact that this place was supposed to serve for burials, no traces of graves were found under it. There are pits for burials, but they are covered with stones.



A stone corridor came from the dolmen, it is called dromos. The embankment was 70 meters in diameter and 6 meters in height. Moreover, everything was built so that it was possible to observe the sunrise from the top: during the summer solstice it appeared between the peaks of the Two Brothers Mountain. Nearby, there is a stone ring, and archaeologists are still not sure of its purpose.



It is believed that this was an ancient astrological observatory. The second option is the temple. During excavations, no traces of a person that would indicate the purpose of the sanctuary were found, and the structure itself looks like carelessly thrown stones. It is believed that people here worshiped the sun.

Thus, the complex “Psynako” is an unusually beautiful place covered with secrets of long forgotten times. If you have a rich imagination and appreciate the picturesque panoramas, then, a visit to this ancient place will give you extraordinary pleasure!



How to get there:

You need to go to the Temple of the Sun from Anastasievka along the Pshenaho Valley towards the "Two Brothers" mountain. It is necessary to cross the river Pshenaho ford, and  there will be a forest on the other side. An iron plate on a large oak will let you know that you are here.

To visit the Psynako dolmens, you have to cross the river back and go on the path leading uphill 200 meters from Anastasievka. Here, in the forest, there are dolmens.
