One of the newest and most comfortable towns of Khakassia.

A large ski resort is located close to Sayanogorsk.

The main exhibition of Sayanogorsk is the Local History Museum (h.31, Yeniseisky Town Microdistrict). The Museum is renowned for its collection of ancient bronze ware.

One of the most unusual exhibitions of Khakassia is the museum of a single stone titled “Ulug Hurtuyakh Tas” which is located approximately 95 kilometres away from Sayanogorsk, at the 325th kilometer of the Highway “Ak-Dovurak – Abakan”. Its only exhibit is a stone statue of the Goddess of the Steppe. Its age is 4.5 thousand years.

History

The history of the modern Sayanogorsk started in 1975. The builders of the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP lived here.

Sayanogorsk is considered to be one of the longest towns in Russia. It is located on the bank of the Yenisei River and stretches for 60 km. There are virtually no streets in Sayanogorsk. The city is divided only into microdistricts.
