Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced that since June 20 regular flights from Moscow airport "Zhukovsky" to Kyrgyzstan would be launched.
"Since June 20, in the near future, the regular flights from the new airport "Zhukovsky" will start and they will be performed by Air Kyrgyzstan", - Medvedev said during the Russian-Kyrgyz talks. He stressed that this was evidence of the strengthening of Russian-Kyrgyz contacts in important direction – flight connection.
Ramenskoye Airport (now Zhukovsky) was designed as the fourth airport in Moscow aviation hub. Construction of the airport will be carried out in three stages. The first of these stages will be completed in the spring of 2016 with commissioning of the first passenger terminal with the capacity of 4 million passengers a year. Moreover there will be parking places, an international cargo terminal, aircraft maintenance center and a shopping center in Zhukovsky. During next five years other facilities planned will be completed.
Passenger turnover of Zhukovsky will amount to 12 million people a year by 2021. In five years Ramport Aero is going to invest in Zhukovsky airport about 10 billion rubles and to create about 8-10 thousand jobs in the region. The total area of the airport infrastructure, including terminals, will be about 250 thousand square meters. Among the directions of flights are Astana, Bishkek, Osh, Shymkent, Aktobe and Aktau. Air Kyrgyzstan plans to implement eight flights a week, while Scat - 12 flights a week.
