Railway services between Moscow stations and airports

As it is known, traffic jams is one of the main problems of Moscow. They are really sick-making for the travelers who have to spend hours going to the airports. The danger to miss your trains and plains because of jams is absolutely real if you go by car. The safest way to reach the Moscow airports without troubles is special railway services. There are three international airports tied with the centre of the city in such a way: Sheremetevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo.

1. Sheremetevo

The most serious traffic problems were located on the north of Moscow, on the way to the international airport of Sheremetevo. In the end of the year 2005 a special terminal was built on the Lobnya railway station not far from the airport. The special buses transported the passengers to the airport of Sheremetevo. Later the railway terminal was built directly on the territory of the airport. The trains depart from the station of Savelovskiy, in the city of Moscow. The long-distance trains don’t come to this station, so its work load is not very heavy. A special area in the station was organized for the registration of the passengers for a flight. This fact has facilitated the organization of works. But in the nearest future this service will include the other Moscow big station,  the Belorusskiy railway station. It will let the through passengers to make their transfer from the long distance trains to the airport rapidly and without delays. Now the transfer Savelovskiy station – airport Sheremetevo takes 30 minutes.

2. Domodedovo

The direct railway transfer between the railway station of Paveletskiy in Moscow and the international airport of Domodedovo began functioning in the summer, 2008. This railway station is a considerable transport hub: the train Moscow-Paris runs from the Paveletskiy railway station and many trains to the Russian cities, mainly in the south of the country as well. The service lets the passenger to reach the airport in 45 minutes after the registration for the flight before the transfer, what is much more rapidly, as by other means of transport.

3. Vnukovo

The third airport, Vnukovo, has recently become an international one. The highway and railway transfer appeared shortly after that. The transfer from the Kievskiy railway station in the centre of Moscow takes the passenger 35 minutes to reach the airport. The registration happens at the Kievskiy station, saving the time.

The trains, transporting you to the airports from the centre of Moscow consist of 7 passengers’ cars and one luggage car. The passengers can place their bags near their places as well: the luggage racks are provided especially for that. There are bio-toilets in the each car. One of the cars is equipped especially for physically challenged people, including special toilets and sitting places. Furthermore, WiFi internet, TV screens with the entertainment programs are at your service.

All in all, such direct services facilitate the exploiting of the Moscow airports considerably, though they are not cheap. One full ticket costs 250 rubles, but this sum cannot be compared with the money you would have to pay to the taxi-driver after the hours in the traffic jam. Furthermore, different discounts are also provided.
