White Nights in Perm 2011 is not only a climate phenomenon, but 26 days of festivals, exhibitions, dance shows, master-classes and forums, workshops and public lectures for all the residents and guests of the city. Perm, pretending to become art capital of Russia will be put into hands of artists, musicians, actors and creative people. Life in Perm on June 1-26 will be regulated with one law: All power to creators!

Preparations for the festival are going on. More precisely, action Long Stories of Perm has already started. From March, 1 till May, 21 the artists cover with graffiti walls of industrial buildings and their concrete fences. Other events of festival will start a little later.

White Nights will gather together creators of different genres from Perm and other Russian regions and cities, CIS countries and far abroad, e.g. Europe and America. Perm itself is featured by already well-known projects like Eclectic Festival «КAMWA PORT». It is new format of etho-futuristic festival of «КAMWA». «Perm Alive» prototype and starting pointtt for White Nights is also awaitehere as well as aviation festival Krylya Parmy (Parma wings). New Perm projects are notable for saving style and national color of the region:

Art-objects made from natural materials tied with one topic from local mythology will be represented on land-art festival Myths of the Urals.

Bear festival "MedveDay" will acknowledge you with something awesome about bear, symbol of Perm, carry out come teddy-bear exhibitions and bear-making master-classes.

White Magic festival will collect unique circus and illusionist programs from all over the world.

"Mammoth trace" exhibition will represent all the Russian mammoths skeletons and recently found baby mammoth.

Finally, international street art festival Open Sky will offer a fascinating program with carnivals, street pageants, 5-days master class "Art of the Mask", street shows and performances, shows of Russian and foreign street theaters.

Sociocultural and educational programs of White Nights consist of public lectures of moreden writers, art-critics, filmmakers and cultural professionals other sorts, workshops and open discussions. Among the topics to discuss are destiny of a paper book and conception of a modern library. Phenomenon of animal style in the ancient art of Europe and Asia will be discussed under international forum "Animal Style in museum collections".
 

During and under the festival a film about Perm will be made by students of FLAHERTIANA WORKSHOP, international school of doc films. The film will be later demonstrated on Russian and European TV channels.

Projects like Cultural Alliance and Big Caucasus are targeted to introduce and popularize contemporary art of different regions, representing art like a bridge between different cultures.

The festival has web-portal, reflecting actual and coming events, city map with playgrounds and search for events and places. Perm, Ural city with bear on the emblem, situated on the frontier between East and west, declares it is pretending to become the cultural capital of Europe. It brings together Animal style of bronze age and street art festivals, dance master-classes and doc films. It looks very eclectic and modern as well, because this mix looks very organic and actual.
