St. Petersburg will host the Champions League final match in 2021, it will take place on the field of the Gazprom Arena stadium, the press service of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) reports.

"In 2021, the Champions League final will be held at the St. Petersburg arena, Russia," the report said.

The decision was made at a meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee in Ljubljana.

The decisive match of the main club tournament in Europe will be held on the field of the stadium "Gazprom Arena", accommodating 68 thousand spectators.

In turn, the tournament final in 2022 will be hosted by the Alliance Arena stadium in Munich with a capacity of 75 thousand spectators. The venue for the Champions League final in 2023 was Wembley Stadium in London (capacity - 90 thousand people).

All these three arenas will be involved in the matches of the European Championship 2020, which will be held for the first time in history in several countries of the continent. In 2020, the stadium in St. Petersburg will host three matches of the group stage of the European Championship and one quarterfinal.

Earlier, Russia only once hosted the Champions League final:  it happened in 2008, in the Luzhniki Stadium of Moscow.   “Manchester United” played against “Chelsea”. Manchester United won the penalty shootout.

At the same time, the final match of the football League of Europe of the season 2020/21 will be held in Seville. Tbilisi also claimed to hold the match.

Seville hosted the UEFA Cup Final (formerly the Europa League) in 2003. Next year, the finals of the second most important club tournament in Europe will be held in Gdansk, Poland.

UEFA also decided that the match for the UEFA Super Cup in 2021 will be held in Belfast. Minsk, Kharkov and Helsinki also claimed the right to host the match.
