The Business Ombudsman under the Russian President Boris Titov told to “Vedomosti” that the party of business people announced by him will be based on the “Right Cause” party. The new political coalition will participate in the elections to the State Duma, as the newspaper writes on Friday, February 12.
The Party Congress is scheduled for February 29. According to Titov, the political organization will change its name, but the final choice has not been made. The new organization will be adjoined by a “big team of entrepreneurs”, as Titov assures. According to him, many people have expressed the desire to be included into the political council of the party: these are business leaders, as well as renowned experts and public figures. However, the party leader did not call their names.
The Chairman of the “Right Cause” party Vyacheslav Maratkanov confirmed that the draft of the party of entrepreneurs would be created on the basis of their organization. “It it very probable that it will be done jointly with us. Now we are coordinating the structure”- he said. On January 25 Titov said that he intended to lead the list of the right-wing party on the Duma elections to be held in September of this year. The Kremlin regarded such a move as “generally very positive”.
Boris Titov has been holding the position of Business Ombudsman since June 2012. Prior to that, he served as the Chairman of “Business Russia” - the public organization uniting representatives of non-resource private businesses.
In 2007 he became a member of the supreme council of “United Russia” and then left the party to become one of the co-chairmen of “Right Cause”. He was one of the leaders of the party in 2008-2011. The all-Russian political party “Right Cause” is the officially registered centre-right party. It was created on November 16, 2008 on the basis of the three parties of liberal orientation: “Civil Force”, “Democratic Party of Russia”, and “Union of Right Forces”.
In June - September 2011 the party was led by the billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov. On December 4, 2011 the party took the last place in the Duma elections, receiving 0.6 percent of all votes.
