Fall-Winter 2017 by Yulia Nikolaeva
May 18, 2017 17:11

YULIA NIKOLAEVA creates intellectual shell for a city girl. Straight cuts, A-shaped silhouettes, one or two major color tones — seemingly simply elements give birth to the multilayer floppy looks.

The illusion is completed with neat accessories — belt bags, backpacks and clutches. Winter-like dark but warm and thick shades of brown are emphasized by the color of ice coffee with milk.

The fabrics are adorned with composition of stripes and animal prints. Wool coats with puffed shoulders and hats remind of highlanders' outfit. Despite this little trick, the signature style of the designer was still obvious: right and left side slightly differed in tone, pockets were scattered on pants and dresses and girls were dressed in male shirts.

The regular participant of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia, author of her own brand "Author studio of Yulia Nikolaeva" graduated from Stroganov Art-Academy, worked in movie and TV industry, designs runway pret-a-porte collections. Critics call her style "intellectual megapolis grunge", but she doesn't strive to shock anyone. Instead she suggests to look into a city as an artistic image full of different meanings. She can be inspired by an ornament in a cup of capuccino or a bird, that cannot fly, hand-made street mottos or homeless person. Her clothes are complexly constructed, have original textures, she pays a lot of attention to details. In her outfits she easily combines basic values and extraordinary author's imagination, performance and comfort, challenge and quality. She declares her vision of beauty, that has no standards except for quest for excellence.

SLAVA ZAITSEV, Alena Akhmadullina, VIVA VOX, YASYA MINOCHKINA (the Ukraine), Julia Nikolaeva, Dasha Gauser, Julia Dalakian, PIROSMANI BY JENYA MALYGINA, YULIA PROKHOROVA BELOE ZOLOTO, IGOR GULYAEV, Goga Nikabadze (Georgia), DIMANEU, Saint-Tokyo, Outlaw Moscow, MASTERPEACE – these and many other designers whose names are already familiar to the fashion world present their collections at the runways of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia. For me personally the quality and convenient venue of the event are very important, and in this respect MBFW Russia is perfectly organized and well-coordinated! I enjoyed the participation in the Fashion Week and happy to use the opportunity to present my collection at the Russian market. Russian designers are lucky to be part of MBFW Russia and demonstrate their collections at the runway that can be fairly referred to as one of the best in the world’ - Giles Deacon, designer of Giles brand, participants of the 25th Season.

‘Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia is an international project that involves professionals who make up the core of the contemporary fashion industry. MBFW Russia is not simply dealing with organization and arrangement of runway shows, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia and press service of the Fashion Week frequently take part in various fashion projects and shootings. With such partnership you are always in the loop and aware of all the top and must-go events in the fashion world,’ – Yasya Minochkina, designer of YASYA MINOCHKINA brand, participant of the three latest seasons of MBFW Russia.
