September 24, 2012 14:43

The view of Nizhny (Source: http://forum.ozery.info/index.php?showtopic=6216)

Nizhny Novgorod is Russia’s fifth largest city with highly-developed international relations. It has more than ten sister-cities in Germany, USA, Austria, China, Finland, Spain, Ukraine, etc. Thus, a lot of businessmen and tourists arrive to Nizhny Novgorod to enjoy its rich cultural heritage combined with the modern infrastructure and conveniences. As the city is rapidly developing, several superlative shopping centres have been opened here recently.

Nizhny Novgorod or just Nizhny was founded in 1221 and is located at the confluence of the two rivers: the Volga and the Oka. Its favourable geographical location and a well-planned transport infrastructure influenced the establishment of relations practically with all the Russian regions, many CIS and foreign countries. That is why Nizhny is one of the most economically progressive city in Russia. Moreover, it was a major commercial centre in Russia in the 19th century. An internationally famous Nizhny Novgorod Fair first took place in the 16th century near the Makaryev monastery and became the largest trade fair in Russia in 1817. That’s how Nizhny became one of the most important centres for the wholesale and retail trading. Since that time, the city has been modernized, but the tradition of high quality and diversified shopping is still actively supported. Here are plenty of shopping malls and fashion galleries that can bring you pleasure and delight, and at the same time satisfy most of your needs.

Last summer the third biggest shopping and recreation center “Sedmoye Nebo” was opened by “Stolitsa Nizhny” Group, the leading developer in Nizhny Novgorod and Nizhny Novgorod region. “Sedmoye Nebo” is situated in “Mescherskoye Ozero” neighborhood with the total area of 75,000 square meters. Fashion boutiques, accessories shops, stores for electronics, home appliances, sports goods, as well as various cafes and restaurants operate there.
The slogan of “Sedmoye Nebo” recreation centre is “World of happy shopping!”, and as it is family oriented, here you will find a lot of places for entertainment, such as a 10-screen “Cinema Park” multiplex with the city's first IMAX movie theater, the city’s first “FizKult” fitness club managed by Russian Fitness Group, “Hibachi” and “KFC” fast food restaurants, “KofeTun-SushiTun” café, etc.

The first largest shopping and entertainment center of the city and Nizhny Novgorod region is “Fantastika”. It is remarkable that it became the winner in the category “The Large shopping mall” at the Commercial Real Estate Award in 2009. “Fantastika” is entirely devoted to fashion and entertainment. It includes a “World Class” fitness center, “Cinema Park”, five boutiques of Spanish corporation Inditex Group (Zara, Bershka, Pull and Bear, Stradivarius, Oysho) and a great variety of stores for children. “Paradise Garden OBI” is an exclusive project of “Fantastika”. This store that occupies the territory of 2,500 square meters under a glass roof is the best place for gardeners and lovers of flowers and plants.

“Respublika” shopping center first meets the guests of the city, as it is situated right in the front of Moskovsky railway station. The architectural look of the building was jointly developed by the architects of Milan and Nizhny Novgorod. Its glass surface of the facade reflects the neighboring buildings and moving cars, floating in the sky. This is the first example of the so-called “mirror architecture” in the city. This shopping centre offers a wide choice of goods and services. On the first, second and third floors of the mall there are shops where you can find world famous brands, such as Lagerfeld, Diesel, A. Falconi, BoscoSport, Dino Bigioni, etc. On the fourth floor of the complex there is one of the biggest Russian consumer electronics retail «M.Video».
