Superpower is the least I'd care about -- I would care about lake Baikal nature or Pelevin books much more -- and I also do care about my photograph of the bear with the guy -- at the top of the article. This one was taken by me in 2001 at the Vernisazh expo of arts and crafts. Maybe you'd like to acknoledge me as a photographer or not to display the photo -- I thought we russians living abroad are more careful about copywrites ;) Here are the rest of the photos from that shot -- enjoy: http://geocities.com/tanushishechka/moscow/moscow.html |

I said ;RUSSIA, after five years one of the solo SUPER POWER thats true |
Scott (Monday, November 19, 2007) |
I said the United States and other nations have anounced Russia as a full fledged Superpower. Russia is a Superpower again, there are no if's or but's it is again. The United States is dopwn stifting it's powers, the US is running out of money and many US government agencies are going bankrupt. China is not a Superpower as it just does not have the Army like Russia has even though they have the popular but China needs Russia's natural resources to be a Superpower, same with the US, the US doesn't not have all the natural resources to be Superpower even though the US is a Superpower, it needs to barrow it's resources to be that power, Russia doesn't need those resources has it has all it's own resources for example. |

Hi Scott It's nothing wrong to say that the us is not the sole superpower anymore, but for my views, i think there seems to be many rivals for this position. Its quite quite controversial stating that russia and the us are the two superpowers, we're saying multipolar powers, ok? To make clear, according to the globalization for the country's economic growth statistics and modernisation and military power, there are 6 other possible rivals including russia and the us. In addition to the us and russia, the world leading powers are china, brazil, india and the EU. From Han, lepziq germany. |

Russia is a superpower, read the links. The US government has annouced Russia as a Superpower once again. CCN News has said Russia was always a Superpower based on several reasons but to state now, that hold that status |

First of all Russia is a superpower, they have the world's largest nuclear weapon arsenal, 10 times greater than the US, Russia's economy is stronger than the US, BBC news reported this recently. Third they are an energy super giant and their military has been continuing to update in all forces of the 21 century weapons compared to the US and they have every domain of power in ideological, diplomatic and technological fronts. Russia is a superpower because they have the economics, the wealth, the diplomatic power, ideological, technological advances than any other country besides the US, they have the cultural sector and lets not forget their military levels (surpreme). The US is on the mist of a recession and several the US government agenices such as NASA are going bankrupt. Russia is on the raise and I main raise, the country is becoming super rich and now are being placed at the 5th fastest growing country in the world. This is many reasons, the US has annouced this several times and new agencies such as CNN news, Russia is a Superpower but the USA is still the leader but no longer the sole superpower, it is now 2 Superpowers; Russia and the USA Washington Acknowledges Russia as Superpower http://www.kommersant.com/page.asp?id=768929 Also Russia is an energy super giant of the world as well. Russia is a Superpower, the claim to say it is not is false. Russia has already regained it's Superpower status last year 2006 and in 2007 US Washington government officials have annouced Russia is back as a Superpower. The USA is no longer the sole Superpower anymore as Russia and the USA are the only Superpower. Putin reshaped Russia back on it's feet and Russia's plan it to be the leading Superpower by 2012. To my mind you should read texts more carefully before making statements of this kind. It is what in school is called "reading comprehension". First of all, it is not an article but displaying the results of one of our website`s polls - so, it`s based on opinions of our visitors, not on my personal opinion. And secondly, nowhere in the article i personally claim that Russia is a 3rd world country. |
ryan caballes (Friday, October 5, 2007) |
russia is not third world country.....your article is insane |
Luis (Thursday, August 9, 2007) |
I understand and support the reasoning of Natalya. Congratulations for the article, for the lucid form as it is written and for the content. We must understand this: it is an inspired opinion article in an inquiry. Best regards from a Portuguese reader. Luis |

Dear Ulica Pushkinskaya, i can understand why you try not to go onto Western websites for news, but this website is being created by Russians living in Russia. You asked "Who did you ask? UK citizens? US citizans? They seem to be very close to real situation, right?" This article is supposed to be summing up the results of one of our polls for visitors of Russia-IC.com Our visitors come from various countries, including the UK, US, etc. It doesn`t matter that they are thousand kilometres away. They are guests of our website and we are interested to know their opinion about the country we live in. It`s their right to have their own opinion even if they may be mistaken about some facts of reality. You write "Russia will be 6th largest economy by 2015, if growth falls to 4% (it is 7% now)". Perhaps, but may i ask you: when did you last travel to Russian regions (not Moscow and other large cities)? For a country with the world`s 6th largest economy regions are in quite a questionable condition. Besides the Russian population is still rapidly decreasing - very nice for a country with raising economy. Our pensioners still live on such miserable pensions that i can only guess how they manage to survive. The disabled here still have no conditions for moving freely from one place to another. I do not keep in mind the situation of the 1990`s, i just prefer to look at people around, not numbers, and to keep in mind that Moscow and St. Petersburg are not the whole Russia. And thanks for reading my article. |
Ulica Pushkinskaya, dom Hui Ego (Wednesday, August 1, 2007) |
This is the worst piece of article I have read. This why I try not to go onto Western website for news..too much bias. To name a few: "45% of all respondents agreed to this statement, which shows that uncertainty and unpredictability is in Russian nature" --Who did you ask? UK citizens? US citizans? They seem to be very close to real situation, right? Considering they are thousands kilometres away.. "despite its economical decline" --Where you see economic decline? Russia will be 6th largest economy by 2015, if growth falls to 4% (it is 7% now). Very funny that person writing this article had in mind situation in 1990's. I guess, our compatriots have lost touch with reality... |
