The sherlock Holmes series is one of the greatest pieces to come out of the USSR-- Livanov is at the center of it, even when he is not present as through the one entire episode before he reappears after his "death" at the falls. What I find so appealing is the simplicity and brilliance of the character of Holmes portrayed by Livanov, and further, the genuine affection felt between Livanov, Solomin and Zelenaya. This was acting at its greatest, the intersection between life and art which touches us all.
