I just finished reading the book last month - Didn't want it to end. Thank you for this excellent capsule bio of Mr. Bondarchuk. I wish to access a copy (DVD) of his film War & Peace to rent or purchase. Can you help me? Thank you

You might try Mosfilm's online viewing section; just been watching Bondarchuk's Boris Godunov, it's awesome.

war and peace is without any doubt the greatest motion picture ever made nothing comes even close to comparing to it, the panoramic vistas of sight and sound and color are without equal and the intimate scenes are just as visually arresting , i dont see this movie in any great film books or lists why??? probably because this film destroys any and all hollywood epics and does so without cgi... only lawrence of arabia or doctor zhivago come close, but only close .....
