    Ust-Abakan

Ust-Abakan is an urban township, the administrative center of the Ust-Abakan District of Khakassia Republic.

The population of the city makes 15 554 people (as of 2015).

The town is located in the steppe of Minusinsk Depression, 12 km to the north of Abakan, on the left coast of the Krasnoyarsk Reservoir of River Yenisei. To the west of Ust Abakan there runs Highway P257 "Yenisei", which delimits it from the city of Chernogorsk. The town borders on the Podkuninsky Mountains rising 569 m above the sea level.

The town economy is based on the enterprises of the Ptitsevod LLC, Ust-Abakan Brick-Works, and Ust-Abakan Woodworking Combine.

Sights

The town harbours the memorial Eternal Glory opened in 1975 to mark the 30th anniversary since the Great Victory over fascist Germany. 6 participants of World War II live in the town.
