Chernogorsk is a Russian city, the center of the city district in the Republic of Khakassia. It is the second largest city after the capital city of Khakassia. The population of Chernogorsk makes 73 825 people (as of 2015).

In 2014 it was included into the list of monotowns of the Russian Federation with the most complicated economic and social situation.

Chernogorsk is located 16 kilometers to the north of Abakan, in Minusinsk Depression in the northern suburb of the Abakan Steppe, to the south of the Podkuninsky Ridge. The federal Highway P257 "Yenisei" runs along the eastern border of the city.

Monument to the city foundress Vera Balandina;

Monument to 109 miners, who were lost in a mine explosion in 1931;

The Ark of Glory with a real T-54 tank is a monument to heroes of the Great Patriotic War;

Monument to pilots of Birm Military Aviation School is a warplane on a pedestal;

The Nativity Church of the Blessed Virgin (1989 — 1992);

Seraphim Sarovsky Church at the Blessed Virgin Nativity Parish;

St. John the Evangelist Church.
