Maisky is a city (since 1965), the administrative center of the Maisky District in the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria.
The city stands in the central part of the Maisky District, between the rivers Cherek and Terek. It is 45 km to the northeast of Nalchik.
The city stretches on the sloping Kabardian plain. The average heights make 217 meters above the sea level.
Maisky has temperate climate with hot and droughty summers. Maximum temperature reaches 42 centigrade above zero. Winters are soft, with minimum temperatures not lower than 18...-20 centigrade below zero.
Places to see here include Saint Archangel Michael Church (27, Chkalov Street) opened in 1850 and reconstructed in 1973, the recreation center Russia (26, Lenin Street), the recreation center Rodina (46, Zheleznodorozhnaya Street), the City House of Culture (25, Kalinin Street), the Local History Museum of the Maisky District (52, Sovetskaya Street).
