Botanic Museum of V.L. Komarov Botanic Institute

The only botanic museum in Russia. The rich collections of the museum were gathered by renowned scientists in their journeys. Four expositions can be seen here: ‘Flora of the world’, ‘History and evolution of plants’, ‘Vegetative resources of our motherland’, and ‘Plants and human beings’. Tropical and subtropical plants from all over the world grow in hothouses taking an area of one hectare. Arboretum park of the Botanic Garden 16 hectares large presents a wide variety of plants of Russia and other countries of Europe, Asia, and Northern America. Altogether the greenhouses and the arboretum of the Botanic garden contain over eight thousand species of plants.
