Kaspiysk is a town in the south of Russia, in the Republic of Dagestan.
It is located on the shore of the Caspian Sea, on the Seaside Lowland, near the foothills of Greater Caucasus, 14 km away from the Makhachkala railway station.
Its territory makes 33 sq.km and its population is 103,9 thousand people (as of 2010).
History of Kaspyisk
Kaspyisk appeared in 1932 as the Dvigatelstroy settlement in relation to construction of an engine plant. Dvigatelstroy got the status of an industrial township in 1936.
It became the town of Kaspiysk in 1947. The town was named after its location of the shore of the Caspian Sea
