Zheleznogorsk is a town (from 1954) in Krasnoyarsk Region of Russia, the center of the restricted administrative and territorial entity, one of the locations of military-industrial objects with a particular treatment.
It stands on banks of small rivers Kantat and Baikal that run into Yenisei, 64 km northward of Krasnoyarsk.
The area of Zheleznogorsk town is 112 sq. km and its population is 85 559 persons (as of 2010).
The town became internationally known in 1989 due to construction of the so-called platform-27 - the enterprises for processing and disposal of nuclear waste. There are similar disposals only in France and Sweden.
