Geography

Kursk Region is situated in the southwest of Russia. After the USSR collapsed, the geographical station of the region acquired a new status the one of the border zone. In the east the region borders with Ukraine, in the northeast - with Bryansk region, in the north - with Oryol region, in the northeast - with Lipetsk region, in the east with Voronezh region, in the south with Belgorod region.

The climate of the region is about the same as anywhere in Central Russia with rather cold winters and warm and sunny summers.
