Krasnodar Territory is located in the south of the Russian Federation. It borders with Rostov Region, Stavropol Territory, Republic of Adygeya and Georgia. Besides, the region is situated right opposite Turkey (across the Black Sea). Krasnodar Territory is located approximately 1,000 miles south of Moscow and is bisected by the Kuban River.

The climate of the greater part of the territory of the region is moderately temperate continental; the climate of the Black Sea coast (to the South from Tuapse) is subtropical. The average temperature in January is - 3-5oC, the average temperature of July is plus 22-24oC.
