Lesnoy is a Russian urban township in the Shilov District of the Ryazan Region.
It is located on the eastern slope of the Central Ural Mountains, on River Tura (the basin of River Ob), 2 km away from the Nizhnyaya Tura railway station, and 254 km away from Yekaterinburg.
Lesnoy with the population of 7729 people (as of 2014) takes the area of 359 sq km.
It is located 30 kilometers to the southwest of the district center and 82 kilometers to the southeast of Ryazan. 5 kilometers away from the township there is the Novaya Pustyn’ railway station on the historical part of the Trans-Siberian Railway (the Ryazan — Ruzaevka line).
It was founded in 1947, when the decision on construction of a military equipment factory in the Central Ural Mountains was taken.
It is known as Sverdlovsk-45. It got the township status in 1954.
