How to get there and away

Air

There are two daily Aeroflot flights to/from Moscow. Lufthansa flies to/from Frankfurt twice a week.

Train

Perm is located on the main Trans-Siberian route from Moscow (20 to 22 hours, daily trains). Yekaterinburg (6 hours) is the next major city as you head east. There are daily trains to Kazan (17 hours). To Ufa a change at Yekaterinburg is necessary and the journey can take nearly 24 hours. Most rail transport operates Moscow time.

Bus

There is a regional service to small towns in the Ural Mountains.

Boat

Boats down the Kama river to the Volga and on to Astrakhan depart about once a week during summer. There is also service to Nizhny Novgorod.
