Geography

The region is situated in the central part of East-European Plain on the Middle-Russian Hills to the south of Moscow. The capital city of the region is Tula, which also serves as the local industrial and cultural centre.

Tula Region has a moderate continental climate with average temperatures ranging from -10°Ñ for January to 17°Ñ for July. Average annual precipitation is around 450-650 mm. Mixed forest covers 40% of the territory.
