Leo Tolstoy Museum Estate Yasnaya Polyana

The estate of the 18-early 20th centuries has kept its appearance almost intact.

The historic and natural museum reserve Yasnaya Polyana includes the house in which L. N. Tolstoy and his family lived, with the interior and the library preserved; an outhouse for guests, at present hosting temporary exhibitions; and a house for servants, now an office premise.

Among natural beauties there are old magnificent parks of the 18-early 19th cc, a cascade of ponds, fruit gardens taking the area of 40 hectares, and forests, most parts of which were planted by Leo Tolstoy in the 1870-1900s. Here, in the forest “Stary Zakaz” the great writer was laid to rest in November 1910.
