Oktyabrsky town is located in the Southern Cis-Ural Region, at the western bottom of Ilmensky Mountains, on the right bank of River Ik, 25 km away from the railway station Tuimazy, and 200 km to the West of Ufa. Its area makes 99 sq.km.
History of Oktyabrsky
Tuymazinsky oil field was discovered in 1937. In autumn of 1937 the place was chosen for construction of a settlement for oil industry workers. It included Mullino, Naryshevo, and Turkmenevo villages. It was an industrial settlement from October 1940 and became a town in 1946. Its name is carrying an ideological stamp: Oktyabrsky - after the October Revolution.
