Danilov is a Russian town in the Yaroslavl Region. It is located at the center of Danilov Upland, on River Pelenda (influx of the Lunka River), 69 km to north-east of Yaroslavl.
It is a railway junction.
The town takes the overall area of 12 sq.km and has the population of 5 450 people (as of 2013).
History of Danilov
It was founded Danilovskoye Village by Alexander Nevsky's younger son Daniil in the middle of the 13th century. It was first recorded as the Danilovsky Settlement in 1592.
In 1777 the Danilovsky Settlement was transformed into the district town Danilov of the Yaroslavl Province.
In 1856 in the district town Danilov of the Yaroslavl Province had 3 churches, 422 houses, and 170 shops.
