Arsenyev is a city (since 1952) in the Primorsky Territory of Russia. It is situated 160 km to the northeast of Vladivostok (250 km by highway). It makes the Arsenyevsky city district. The city with the population of 53 543 people (as of 2015) takes the overall area of 90,74sq km).
Arsenyev stands in the foothills of Sikhote-Alin, in the right bank valley of River Arsenyevka (inflow of Ussuri).
The Obsornaya (Survey) Hill 875 m high towers over the city. It opens an amazing panorama of Arsenyev, the valley of River Arsenyevka, and the territory of the Tikhiy (Quiet) wildlife as well as spurs of the Sikhote-Alin Ridge.
Aviation and mechanical engineering, metal working, forest and woodworking, construction materials, and food industries are developed in Arsenyev. The largest enterprises are the Progress Arsenyev Aviation Company, and the Far East reinforcing plant Askold.
It has Arsenyev Station of the Far East railroad (Sibirtsevo's line — Novochuguyevka). Intercity buses run to Vladivostok, Nakhodka, Ussuriisk, Kavalerovo, Dalnegorsk and other cities and settlements of the Primorsky Territory, as well to Khabarovsk.
Sightseeing
The vicinities of Arsenyev are rich in sights.
There are about forty various archaeological monuments there: ancient sites, settlements, and caves, which are investigated by cave explorers.
Tourists are fascinated with the unique beauty of the native Far East territory with a yew grove, lotuses, and junipers that grow on the Orekhovoye and Kasennoye Lakes.
