The Valday district is located in the southeastern part of the Novgorod Region. The center of the district is the city of Valday, 140km from Novgorod, 370km from Moscow and 330km from St. Petersburg. The climate of the region is temperate continental.
The region is fabulously rich with lakes (about 170 lakes) that prettify this land. Among them the most charming are Valday Lake and Uzhin Lake. The outline of their shores is very intricate. Both lakes are rather deep: 84m and 100m correspondingly. The beauty of these lakes is in numerous small islands scattered around.
