Started in 1979 and situated in a 19th century tower, it’s now the only Russian museum of one mineral – amber. The exposition is divided into two equally important parts: natural - scientific and cultural - historical. Founded in 1988, the gallery is nowadays one of the youngest and progressively developing museums in Russia. Museum’s collections house more than 10000 pieces: paintings, graphics, sculptures and handicrafts. Opened in 2002, the museum is situated in a historical – architectural memorial of the 19th century, permeated with the atmosphere of Eastern Prussia.
