Top 5 Russian Actors Best Known in Hollywood

Russian actors have long been important in American cinema. Mikhail Chekhov did not only become a member of the American Film Academy, but also created Hollywood’s best acting school with famous graduates, such as Gregory Peck, Ingrid Bergman, Marilyn Monroe, Clint Eastwood, and others. 1. Danila Kozlovsky

Danila Kozlovsky is justly considered to be one of the brightest young stars of modern
Russian cinema. As for Hollywood, Danila Kozlovsky came to be a success thanks to his role in the film “Vampire Academy”, where he played a vampire named Dmitry Belikov, who heads the Guards Department at the Vampire Academy.

2. Vladimir Mashkov
An idol of millions film lovers, Vladimir Mashkov has long been a legend in the Russian cinema. He has a name in Hollywood as well. Vladimir Mashkov became a Hollywood actor in demand after the Oscar and Golden Globe nominations of a film he starred in - The Thief directed by Pavel Chukhrai. At the turn of the 1990s and 2000s, Vladimir Mashkov played in 6 Hollywood films, having partnered with Robert De Niro, Gene Hackman, Owen Wilson and Scarlett Johansson. A decade later, another Russian film starring him - The Edge directed by Alexey Uchitel’ - was nominated for the Golden Globe. It was that nomination that promoted Vladimir Mashkov to get a role Mission Impossible: Protocol Phantom starring Tom Cruise.
Interestingly enough, it was Mashkov’s character from the film “Behind Enemy Lines” that became the prototype of the main character of the game GTA IV.

Above all, Vladimir Mashkov is a member of the Hollywood Actors Guild. It means that he cannot be paid less than a million dollars for his film role in America.


3. Konstantin Khabensky
Russian actor and philanthropist Konstantin Khabensky also boasts film roles in Hollywood and European projects. After working together on his blockbusters Night Watch and Day Watch, Timur Bekmambetov could not help but star Konstantin Khabensky in his Hollywood project “Wanted” along with Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy. Besides, Konstantin Khabensky played in the horror “War of the Worlds Z”, thriller “Spy, Get Out!”, the French-Russian drama “Rasputin”, and many other foreign films.


4. Evgeny Lazarev
Evgeny Lazarev, who started his film career back in the Thaw period, has played about 30 roles in American films and TV shows. A versatile master of minor roles and episodes, he was filmed in The Price of Fear, Armory Baron, Pink Panther 2, and Iron Man 2. Nowadays, Evgeny Lazarev combines his acting career with teaching at the famous Stella Adler Studio of Acting.


5. Yuri Kolokolnikov
Yuri Kolokolnikov gained world fame thanks to his role in the already-iconic series “The Game of Thrones”. Later on, he acted along with Ryan Reynolds in the action movie "The Killer's Bodyguard." Besides, Yuri Kolokolnikov appeared in the Chinese - French film "Transporter Legacy".
