Maria Mikhailovna Sinyakova-Urechina was one of the five sisters related to the Russian avant-garde of the 1910s. The famous poet Velimir Khlebnikov, who was in love with Maria dedicated several poems to her, as well as to her sisters (the poem Blue Fetters, 1922).
In 1952 Maria Sinyakova-Urechina was expelled from the Artists Union for “grovelling before the western art”. The only personal exhibition of M. M. Sinyakova-Urechina took place in the Kiev department of the Writers Union in 1969.
Maria Sinyakova-Urechina died in Moscow in 1984.
