 Sergey  Krikalyov


Born:   August 27, 1958

Soviet and Russian air sportsman and astronaut, Hero of the Soviet Union and the Hero of Russia.

      

Sergey Krikalyov is a famous astronaut who made 6 flights for the total time of 803 days 09 hours 41 minutes 12 seconds and 8 extravehicular activities for the total time of 41 hour and 26 minutes. Till June, 2015 he was the world champion in total time of habitability of space.
Sergey Krikalyov was born in Leningrad on August 27, 1958.
He graduated from the Leningrad Mechanical Institute majoring in Aircraft Design and Production.
His first space flight lasted from November 26, 1988 to April 27, 1989 according to the program of the 4th major expedition and the Soviet-French program Aragats. Sergey Krikalyov was the flight engineer of the spacecraft Soyuz TM-7 and the MIR Orbital Facility.
The fifth space flight of the highly experienced astronaut lasted for as long as 140 days 23 hours 40 minutes 19 seconds. As a member of the first main expedition of the International Space Station, Sergey Krikalyov was the flight engineer of the Soyuz TM-31 spacecraft and ISS.
Sergey Krikalyov is married to Elena Terekhina, who works as an engineer of the space rocket complex Energy. The couple have a daughter born in 1990.
In his spare time the astronaut enjoys swimming, aerobatics, windsurfing, tennis, and ski mountaineering.
