A merited Soviet and Russian inventor, he is known as one of the creators of modern international standards of digital television and high definition television.
Mark Krivosheyev was born in Poltava on July 30, 1922. In 1940-1941 he did military service until demobilized due to an eye disease. From 1941 to 1946 he was a student and worked. In 1946 the young inventor attained the first TV image of the domestic 625 line standard.
In 1946 Mark Krivosheyev graduated from the Moscow Institute of Communications Engineers and was assigned to work at the Moscow Television Center. In 1947 he was appointed the head of the MTC's hardware studio complex. In 1948 he managed to broadcast TV signals in the standard of 625 lines on the air.
In 1950 Mark Krivosheyev was shifted to the Ministry of Communications of the USSR and appointed the head of the Television Department. The scientist carried out a lot of work on generation and development of the TV transmitting network and VHF broadcasting in Russia. Moreover, he greatly contributed to engineering of the Ostankino television complex. He became the Candidate of Technical Sciences and appointed the head of the television department and the TV measurement laboratory of the Scientific Research Institute of Radio (SRIR) in 1959. The inventor became the Doctor of Engineering in 1966 and Professor in 1968.
Mark Krivosheyev has succeeded with numerous developments in the field of technical means of TV broadcasting. In 1970 in New Delhi He was elected the vice-chairman, and then the chairman of the 11th (Television) Research Committee of the International Advisory Committee on Radio, which he headed till 2000. Since 2000 he has been the Honorary Chairman of the 6th (Broadcasting) Research Committee. His methodology provided basis for over 150 recommendations, which became a set of standards and the foundation for introducing digital TV broadcasting in Russia and around the world.
The scientist has authored and co-authored with his students more than 30 books, 350 articles and reports. Mark Krivosheyev owns 94 copyright certificates, domestic and foreign patents. He is the holder of high awards and honorary titles of Russia, Australia, Brazil, Great Britain, Germany, Iran, Spain, Italy, China, USA, Ukraine, Japan, large international TV forums NAB, IBC, HAT, etc.
