 Anna Vasil'eva (Miss Remizova)

Born:   1890
Deceased:   1928

Anna Vladimirovna Remizova (signed as Vasilyeva) and nicknamed Miss worked in the Russian weekly satirical journal Satirikon (1908-1914) along with her brother, artist N. V. Remizov - Vasilyev (alias Re-Me). Besides, her works were published in the New Satyricon and the Sun of Russia. She was a member of the World of Art (Mir Iskusstva) art association, which became a significant phenomenon in the Russian culture of the Silver age and vividly expressed one of the essential esthetic tendencies of the epoch.

She was especially kindred to paintings by Konstantin Somov, who adhered to the Russian version of Art Nouveau.
Her paintings convey the historicity of costumes, and characters with slight hint of nostalgia for the gallant 18th century. The fine styled courteous scenes in harem, boudoir, and garden enchant with the pinpoint accuracy of her subtle drawing.
