Vladimir Shainsky was born on December, 12th, 1925 in Kiev. From 1936 Vladimir majored in violin, attending a music school at Kiev Conservatoire, but his studies were interrupted by the war. In 1941 the family was evacuated to Tashkent. Vladimir continued his music education in the Tashkent Conservatory, where he studied until 1943, when he was drafted to the military service.

Right after the end of the war in 1945 Vladimir Shainsky entered the Orchestra Faculty of the Moscow Conservatory.

Starting from 1949 he worked for three years in Leonid Utyosov Orchestra. Later he taught violin at some musical school (1952—1954), and during the period of 1954 to 1962 he worked as a composer and a music director of several variety orchestras.

In 1962 he entered and in 1965 graduated from the Composers’ Faculty of the Baku Conservatory, where he studied under the People’s Artist of the USSR Kara Karayev.

His first works as a composer were the string quartet written in 1963 when still in the conservatory, and the symphony created in 1965.

Vladimir Shainsky is mainly known, as the author of numerous children’s songs. He wrote more than 300 songs, many of which turned immensely popular.
