Modern Russian artist

Vyacheslav Novitchkov was born in Astrakhan in June 16, 1963. He graduated from the P.A.Vlasov Art School in Astrakhan in 1982.
From 1987 to 1992 he studied at the applied arts faculty in the Moscow Textile Academy. He worked at the Design Department of the Russian Correspondence Institute of Textile and Garment Industry for about 20 years. He became a member of the Artists’ Union of Russia in 1996. The same year saw his first personal exhibition in Moscow: it was held at the international gallery Malaya Gruzinskaya, 28.

Vyacheslav Novitchkov had 6 personal exhibitions and took part in various exhibition projects in Russia and abroad. His works are kept in P. M. Dogadin Art Gallery in Astrakhan, the All-Russian Museum of Decorative and Applied Arts, The Portrait Museum, collections of the Henkel company, Oleg Tabakov Theatre Studio and private collections.

Vyacheslav Novitchkov’s works are so diverse in time, style and mental outlook can hardly be limited to some certain trend in art. These are ironic remakes series Playing Malevich, refined Chalice with eternal bible motives, symbolic graphic works People-Faces, and many others…

Lots of his works have no explicit meaning and do not expose themselves directly, but initiate dialogue with the viewer.

Decorative color system, rhythmic and ornamental images, philosophical approach and continuous search of one’s own meanings stand out and make the individual style of Vyacheslav Novitchkov.
