Popular children's writer, author of Adventures of Duno

      

Nikolai(y) Nikolaevich Nosov was born on 23 November 1908 in Kiev. In 1932 he graduated from Directors Faculty of Moscow Institute of Cinematography. From 1932 he worked as a film director and animation artist. Nikolay Nosov made his literary debut in 1938. The writer became famous due to his story fro children Vitya Maleev at School and at Home, published in 1951 and awarded with the State Prize of the USSR in 1952. In 1955 the storys screen version Two Friends (Dva druga) was filmed. Till date young readers are fond of the amusing trilogy about Dunno (Neznaika) - The Adventures of Neznaika and His Friends (1953-1954), Neznaika in Sun City (1958), and Neznaika on the Moon (1964-1965). There are several animations based on these captivating fairy stories. Nikolay Nosov also wrote Story about My Friend Igor (1971-1972), several plays and a great number of short stories. Apart from literary activity he took part in creation of film scenarios, in particular, for the films The Adventures of Tolya Klyukvin (Priklyucheniya Toli Klyukvina) (1964) and Fantasizing (Fantazyory) (1965).
