 Andrei Lazarchuk

Born:   February, 6th 1958

Russian writer.

Andrei Gennadyevich Lazarchuk was born in Krasnoyarsk and has lived in Petersburg since 1999. He graduated from Krasnoyarsk Medical Institute as a resuscitator. He made his literary debut in 1983 with the publication of his short story “Ex-libris” (aka “Grasshopper”). However, he finally established himself as a science fiction writer by 1990. It was then when excerpts from his novel-epopee “Late for summer” saw the light. The novel was published in its full version in 1996. Andrei Lazarchuk came up in literature with works simple in form, but deep in social and philosophical thought. The writer himself believes that his works are not fantasy as such. When defining his own art method, he names it “turbo-realism”, asserting that “turbo-realism” is something similar to fantasy, but it is not fantasy in the true sense of the word. He is a master of “twisting” an intrigue of the story plot and so manages to keep the reader in suspense till the end of any book of his.
