Russian stage and film actor, People’s Artiste of Russia

      

Konstantin Yuryevich Khabensky was born on January 11, 1971 in Leningrad. From 1981 to 1985 Konstantin’s family was staying in Nizhnevartovsk. After finishing school Konstantin entered a technical school for aviation instrumentation, but after three years of studies realized that it was far from his vocation. Konstantin undertook working and tried a number of jobs: as a floor polisher, a yard keeper, a street musician, and a fitter at a theater studio. Then he studied under V.M. Filshtinsky in the Leningrad State Institute for Theatre, Music and Cinematography. 
 
As a student yet he took the stage and got some big roles among others: that of Lomov in the Chekhov’s vaudeville Jokes, several roles in Vysotsky's Time, the rope-walker Matto in The Road by Fellini, Chebutykin in Three Sistersby Chekhov, etc. 
 
In 1994 Konstantin Khabensky made his film debut with a bit part in the movie To Whom God Will Send. After graduation he worked at theaters and as a TV host, and kept being in the films. Among his most memorable roles for public there were those in Woman’s Property (it gained Khabensky I got an award in The Best Male Role nomination at the Gatchina Film Festival) by the film director Dmitry Meskhiyev, the dramas Khrustalyov, My Car! and Natasha, the series Destructive Power, the blockbusters movies Night Watch and Day Watch, The State Counseller, Wanted, Tricks, The Irony of Fate 2, Admiral, White Guard, and others. 
 
Altogether the filmography of Konstantin Khabensky includes 50 roles in cinema. At the same time he is no less in demand on the theater stage: he plays at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre in the stage productions, such as Caligula, Bug, Duck Shooting, White Guard, Hamlet, The Threepenny Opera, and others. Konstantin Khabensky is the People’s Artiste of Russia, and the winner of various cinema and theatre awards and prizes.
