 Garri  Bardin


Born:   September 11, 1941

Russian animator

      

His real name is Garry Yakovlevich Bardenstein. Garry was born on September 11, 1941 in Orenburg.

In 1968 he graduated from the School Studio of the Moscow Art Theatre, where he studied under P.V. Massalsky.

In 1974 jointly with Vasily Livanov he wrote the Don Juan play and was invited by Sergey Obraztsov to become a stage director in the Moscow Puppet Theater.

In 1975 Garri Bardin started working as an animator director at the Soyuzmultfilm studio, where within 15 years he created 15 animated films rewarded with numerous prizes both in Russia and abroad. Among these prizes there were four Nikas, Palme d'Or of the Cannes Film Festival and a number of other most prestigious prizes won by his films all around the world.

In 1999 Garri Bardin was bestowed the State Award Russian Federation.

Garri Bardin won recognition and success, not without application of various techniques and materials in his films, such as matches in Conflict, ropes in Marriage, wire in Tricks, and origami in Adagio. Besides, the author uses traditional puppets and plasticine. Garri Bardin is the author of scenarios for most of his films.

In 1991 Garri Bardin together with his team founded his own studio Stayer.
The son of Garri Bardin is the film director Pavel Bardin.
