 Anna Antonicheva


Born:   October 8, 1973

Prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre, People's Artist of Russia (2008)

Antonicheva is   a colossal hard worker with great willpower. She is a rare person, who needs to be refrained rather than impelled", - renowned prima and ballet teacher Yekaterina Maximova said about her student Anna.
Anna Antonicheva was born and grew up in Baku. She studied at the Baku Choreographic School, and then having won a gold medal and the Audience Award at the Transcaucasian Ballet Competition (1988) held in Baku, was admitted to the Moscow Ballet School. She graduated in 1991 and got employed to the corps de ballet of the Bolshoi Theater.
Anna Antonicheva danced her first leading role, that o Shirin in "The Legend of Love" by A. Melikov at the beginning of the fifth season of her  work at the Bolshoi Theatre.
Tours
After winning at the International Ballet Competition in Jackson, where she performed with Dmitry Belogolovtsev, one of her regular stage partners, she toured across the United States. Anna Antonicheva danced in Balanchine's "Apollo" ( "Apollo Musaget" by Igor Stravinsky), in "Paganini" (set to music by Rachmaninov, choreography by Leonid Lavrovsky) and Alexander Vetrov, now director of the  Arlington Ballet troupe (TX), with Dmitry Belogolovtsev in Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker staged by Alexander Vetrov. The troupe's second leader at that time, Paul Mejia invited her to perform in the ballets staged by him: "Baudelaire" (her first "non-academic" experience, according to Anna), "Hamlet" and "Romeo and Juliet" to music by Tchaikovsky.
Anna Antonicheva is a constant participant of the international project Stars of the 21st century, organized by the Canadian impresarios Nadia Veselova-Tenser and Solomon Tenser. Its gala-concerts presenting ballet stars from around the world were held in Toronto, Paris, Cannes, New York, and Tokyo.
Honors
In 1998 Anna Antonicheva won a prize at the International Ballet Competition in Jackson (the USA) and was awarded the title Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
In 1999 she took the journl Ballet's prize The Soul of Dance in the nomination Rising Star.
In 2008 the ballerina was awarded the titles Honored Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania and People's Artist of the Russian Federation.
In 2013 she became the People's Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
